FAQ

What products do you carry? We carry all-wood RTA Cabinetry, Quartz, Granite, and Marble prefabricated solid-surface countertops, Acacia Hardwood, LVP Click-lock flooring, and Laminate tongue and groove planks.

Do you charge for your estimates? All in-showroom quoting or email quoting is free of charge.

Do you do in-house estimates? All estimating is done in our showroom, although we can do rough quoting via email if you prefer to get rough numbers without making the trip.

What Services do you provide? We provide a number of services listed below:

  • Installation of the cabinetry and countertops that we provide

  • On-site measurements of spaces for cabinet replacements (associated fee)

  • Free in-store quoting by appointment

Do you have your own installers, or do you sub out? We have our own in-house teams for our cabinet and countertop installations. We don’t currently have installers for tile, flooring, or handy-people on staff to deal with electrical, plumbing, drywall, structural work etc.

Do you do delivery if you don’t do installation? We are unable to offer delivery services if we are not installing the product, but we will help load your materials into your vehicle for you.

Do you carry remnants? Most of our slabs come pre-fabricated which means they’re already cut to standard Counter and Island depths, 8ft and 9ft lengths, and have much of the edging already done. This means we can be streamlined and efficient with our material use and timelines but it does mean that the average size of our remnants is between 24” - 35” long by 26” wide.

How do in-house cabinetry measurements work? In-house measurements are done after working hours by one of our showroom associates. We’ll do a rough estimate first to make sure we’re in the ballpark of your budget, and then schedule measurements according to your schedule and our availability. Measurements do incur a fee, but if we do your installation for you then we roll that fee into the overall costs as a deposit. If we don’t do your installation then the fee stands as a non-refundable service fee, but you will get copies of the measurements as well as the computer layout we come up with in-store.

I have a simple countertop that I just want cut and then I’ll install it. Can we do that? Yes, if your countertop is simple enough (such as a vanity top, cutting to size, etc.) then if you bring in extremely specific lengths, depths, and the center of any sink as well as the sink, faucet etc. you intend to use, we can cut to your measurements or template. Make sure your measurements/template are accurate as there are no returns/refunds for fabricated countertops.

What do I need to bring to the showroom for a quote? For countertops:

  • Pictures of the space from various angles

  • full lengths of each relevant wall

  • the locations, sizes, and varieties of your appliances (not including your dishwasher)

  • Which left/right sides of the countertop runs will run into a wall, a pantry, oven cabinet, and which will be open

  • If your windowsill is the same height as the countertop we will need the length, depth, and location of that window

  • The center of your sink cabinet from the nearest wall as well as the interior width of the cabinet

  • Whether you would like a topmount, undermount, or farmhouse sink and what material it will be made from

  • If you’re doing a bathroom countertop with a low-hanging mirror we’ll need the distance between the cabinet and the mirror to account for backsplash height

For Cabinets:

  • The maximum space that cabinetry can occupy along each wall

  • The location and length/height of your window with and without trim

  • The length of your Island

  • The location from the nearest left/right wall of the plumbing for your sink

  • The location, width, and height of your refrigerator

  • The location and width of your dishwasher

  • The location and width of your stove as well as the hood type you’ll be using (under-cabinet, microwave, full exhaust)

  • The floor-to-ceiling or floor-to-soffit height

  • Make sure to check if your existing flooring runs underneath your cabinets or just up to the cabinets

There may be some follow-up questions from there, but this information should get you close to a final quote number.

General FAQs

Will you help me with design and color selection?

Yes, we will! And that's an important question. Most of our customers come to us because of our customer service and how we manage to help them with all the details. We recommend them to bring us a sample of their tile and cabinet/cabinet color. The rest is on us! We will ask a few questions to understand what the customer likes and to take them in the right direction. It's also important to understand the design of your home. Even though you may love the modern style, if you have a traditional home, you should stick to a traditional design. We will help you with that!

Will there be a noticeable seam?

Many of our customers tell us that other fabricators promised an unnoticeable seam. So let us be honest with you - any seam is noticeable! We have seams in our showroom so the customers can visualize what a seam looks like, and our goal is to avoid seams if possible. Most kitchens require at least one to two seams, but it all depends on the layout and how long your countertops are. All QGC installers do use an installation tool called a seam setter to assist in leveling and vacuum setting seams.

Can you remove my counters?

Yes, we can remove and dispose your old counters but if you're handy or have handy friends, we’re happy to work with you to demo yourself. Our goal is to help you save money where you can, and allow you to splurge on the centerpiece of your project, which is always the stone.

Do you have remnants?

Yes, we have a large remnant inventory of many different types of stone. Stop by and see if we have the stone you want in stock. If not, our staff should have no problem finding it for you.

Can I use marble in the kitchen?

Yes, you can. Though we don’t recommend it, there are still many people opting for marble in their kitchens and love it. The only thing is, marble is soft and can easily stain so countertop maintenance is a must!

Can I cut on granite?

Yes, you can. The right question though, would be if you could cut on any granite. Then the answer would be no. When getting granite countertops, ask us if the granite you like is hard enough to allow you to cut on it.

How often should I seal my countertops?

After the countertops are installed and the seams are filled, we recommend sealing granite and marble countertops right away. From there, depending on the type of stone you have and what applications are being used in the area, we recommend sealing anywhere between 2x a year to once every few years! Ask one of our sales reps for more information on how you can protect your investment.
